The 36 million millionaires hold 45.9% of all world wealth
There are more millionaires in Portugal and they are richer. There are 68,000 Portuguese who in 2017 have a cumulative fortune of at least one million dollars (Euro 857.8 million), 11.5% more than in 2016, according to the “Global Wealth 2017” said on Tuesday by bank Crédit Suisse.
The Swiss bank also says that Portugal is richer: the fortune accumulated by the Portuguese is valued at 750 billion dollars, a growth of 7% over last year.
The report “Global Wealth 2017” also says that the average fortune of the Portuguese is less than 100 thousand euros, as in the Czech Republic and Slovenia. The Swiss bank anticipates that over the next five years the number of millionaires in Portugal will increase: in 2022, 77 thousand Portuguese will have a fortune valued at 100 thousand dollars.
Globally, there is an accumulated wealth of $ 280.289 billion. More than a third of this wealth is concentrated in North America ($ 101 billion). World wealth is also poorly distributed. By 2017, 1% of millionaires held more than half (50.1%) of all world wealth, the highest percentage since 2000.
